Magnetic therapy proponents claim that subjecting certain parts of
the body to magnetic fields exposure has a beneficial effect or
therapeutic affect. This belief has led to the growth of an industry
involving the sale of magnetic-based products for healing and
well-being.
There have been many scientists and non-scientists
trying to prove or disprove the legitimacy of magnetic therapy. Some
scientists have stated that static magnetic fields have no
theoretical impact on the body whereas alternating magnetic fields
could potentially have an effect on the body.
Some of the
consumer products that are for sale are magnetic bracelets and
jewellery, magnetic straps for wrists, ankles, and the back, shoe
insoles, mattresses, and magnetic blankets.
